Next Contest of Mexican Indigenous Artisans 2022.

In the Mazahua and Otomí community, the woman is in charge of making the clothing and other textiles necessary in the daily life of the community. She is almost always in charge of the entire production process. The materials used are wool and cotton and the process begins at harvest, passing to spinning, dyeing and warping, until reaching the garment's production on a backstrap loom, a pedal loom of pre-Hispanic origin. Women have always been the main promoters of embroidery and weaving in Mazahua textiles.
